Lee Sweeps GSC Women's Track and Field Awards

Track Athlete of the Year
Lee senior Jessica Childers has been named 2017 GSC Women's Track and Field Track Athlete of the Year.
 
Childers excelled at the conference meet, taking home the top individual prize of Most Outstanding Overall Athlete and guiding her team to a conference title. She won the 5k and the 1500m and took second in the steeplechase to go along with a third place finish in the 800m.
 
Field Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year 
Lee freshman Camilla Sims has been named 2017 GSC Women's Track and Field Field Athlete of the Year.
 
Sims was named both the Field Performer of the Meet and Freshman of the Meet at the GSC Conference Championships last weekend. She helped her team take home the top prize by grabbing gold in both the discus and the shot put. She also secured a fifth place finish in the hammer throw. Sims set a GSC record this year with a throw of 12.32m in the shot put.
 
Coach of the Year:
Lee Coach Caleb Morgan has been named 2017 GSC Women's Track and Field Coach of the Year.

Entering his fourth season as Head Coach, Coach Morgan led his Lee athletes to a first place finish at the GSC Championships. Morgan coached four of his female athletes to NCAA DII Provisional Marks on the year. The former flame runner received this award on the men's side after the 2016 season as well.
