FINAL TOURNAMENT STATS

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -
West Florida, the top team in the country, never relinquished its lead at the GSC Men's Golf Championship, winning by 22 strokes and taking home the trophy for the 15th time in school history.

This was the second straight year that Chandler Blanchet was the tournament medalist. Blanchet won by 11 strokes over teammate Bryce Geraghty. It was a dominant performance for Blanchet, who turned in a 12-under par 204. That score is tied for the second lowest mark in conference tournament history.

As a team, the Argonauts were also close to making history, as the team's 851 is just one stroke off of the tournament record 850 from 1979.

Jacob Huizinga and Henry Westmoreland qualified for the GSC All-Tournament Team for UWF with scores that ranked in the top five.

Lee finished comfortable in second place, 22 strokes clear of North Alabama in third. The Flames' Shea Slyvester finished third overall with an even-par 216. With that score, the senior has now finished in the top five in all four of his conference tournaments.

Matt Johnson and Corey Sheppard also performed well for Lee, each finishing with a three-over par 219.

North Alabama, Mississippi College, and Valdosta State rounded out the top five.

The field for the NCAA Men's Golf Super Regionals will be announced this Friday, April 28. There will be 10 teams and four individuals selected from the South Region for super regional play. The South will play along with the Southeast at The Shoals Golf Club in Muscle Shoals, Ala. From there, the South/Southeast will send the top seven teams, and the top two individuals from teams that did not qualify, from the super regional to nationals. The NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship will take place from May 22-May 26 at the Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Fla.
