BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Lady Blazers needed overtime, but Valdosta State was able to leave Birmingham on Sunday afternoon with the program’s third conference crown. It was the first time VSU was named women’s basketball conference champions since 1984.

KEY MOMENTS
After West Florida’s Shami Goodman hit a game-tying three in the final seconds of regulation, Valdosta State was able to recover and boast a dominant overtime frame, outscoring the Argonauts 13-1 in extra time.
 
NOTABLE
- VSU was dominant early, leading by 11 points less than four minutes after tip off.
- Despite the close game, there were only two lead changes. Valdosta State jumped out to the lead early, UWF came back to take control, and although West Florida was able to tie the contest on multiple occasions, VSU never trailed after the 5:58 mark in the third quarter.
- In her first season, VSU head coach Carley Kuhns has now racked up 20 wins. It's the first time VSU has had 20 wins since the 2011-12 season.
