UAH knocks off DSU to head to third straight GSC Title Game
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – When Alabama Huntsville and Delta State meet on the hardwood one can expect physical, hard-fought basketball game. That is exactly what fans at the Pete Hanna Center got to see when the Chargers and Statesmen battled in the Gulf South Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament semifinals on Saturday night.
The Chargers and Statesmen battled for the first 25 minutes before UAH took over with suffocating defense and an offensive explosion. UAH hit seven threes in the second half and outscored Delta State 52-33 to go on to win the game 85-67.

KEY MOMENTS
- A Brandon Roberts layup and a Michael Gilmore three with just under 19 minutes to play give UAH a five-point lead, which the Chargers never surrendered.
- Brandon Roberts hit a shot clock buzzer-beating three-pointer with 10:44 to play. The Statesmen never got within seven points following Roberts’s shot.
- With under three minutes to play, UAH went on a 13-2 run to give the Chargers a 21-point advantage. Troy Saxton had seven points during that run.
NOTABLE
- UAH senior Michael Gilmore was perfect from the field, including 5-for-5 from beyond the arch.
- Five Chargers, led by Brandon Roberts’s 18 points, scored in double digits.
- UAH heads to the GSC Title Game for the third-consecutive season.
