GSC announces 2016 Volleyball All-Conference honors
Birmingham, Ala. — The Gulf South Conference announced its 2016 All-GSC honors on Monday, with
West Florida and
North Alabama each placing five student-athletes on the all-conference team.
The Argos and Lions led the conference with 10 of the 18 total All-GSC First and Second Team selections. Following UWF and UNA were
Christian Brothers,
Lee and
Shorter with two all-conference honorees each.
Valdosta State and
West Alabama each had one named All-GSC. West Florida led with three All-GSC First Team selections while North Alabama and Shorter each had two named to the First Team.

Natasha Fomina earned
GSC Player of the Year. The two-time All-GSC First Team player led the conference with 3.95 kills-per-set and 4.47 points-per-set. She was also second in the league in total kills with 427. The Broomfield, Colo. native played in 108 sets and managed a .289 hitting percentage. On defense, the senior averaged 1.05 digs-per-set and 0.44 blocks-per-set. Fomina helped lead the Lions to a 16-4 conference record and the No. 3 seed in the GSC Tournament.

Emma Lenoir was named the 2016
GSC Freshman of the Year. Lenoir played in 111 sets for the Bucs, leading the team with 3.94 points-per-set and 3.44 kills-per-set. She was second on the team in service aces-per-set with 0.34 average and third in digs-per-set with a 2.15 average. The Chattanooga, Tenn. native was fourth in the GSC in kills-per-set and fifth in aces-per-set. Lenoir was named GSC Freshman of the Week six times this season.

In-Sik Hwang was named
GSC Coach of the Year for the third time in his 14 years at the helm of the Bucs. Hwang led CBU to a 17-13 overall record and a 12-8 record in the GSC this season. Hwang and his team earned the No. 4 seed in the GSC Tournament, winning seven of their last nine conference games of the season.
