BIRMINGHAM (January 29, 2015) - Less than a year at the helm as commissioner of the Gulf South Conference, Matt Wilson is hard at work looking at the future of one of the NCAA’s premier Division II conferences.

The Gulf South Conference has retained Collegiate Consulting to help create the strategic plan for the conference moving forward, while also assessing membership growth of the conference in members and the league’s championship sports.

“This strategic plan’s goal is to focus on membership and the experiences of our student-athletes,” states Commissioner Wilson.  “This also will express the commitment we have towards our member institutions and key constituents.  We hope to create clear, measurable goals that will help us move forward as a conference.”

Collegiate Consulting has an extensive portfolio in developing strategic plans for athletic programs.  The firm has produced similar plans for over a dozen universities and conferences in the last 24 months.  In regards to the Gulf South, Collegiate Consulting will utilize conference surveys from the member institutions to review where the conference stands as a whole and define goals for the future.

“All of us at Collegiate Consulting want to help uphold the great reputation of the Gulf South,” stated Collegiate Consulting Managing Director Russell Wright.  “Looking ahead, we want the Gulf South Conference to not only be known as a prestigious Division II league, but as a premier conference in all of intercollegiate athletics.”
