Birmingham, Ala.—.West Alabama won the 2014 Gulf South Conference Men’s Cross Country Championship at Veteran’s Park in Hoover, Ala., on Saturday.
West Alabama took the men's crown by a narrow two points over second-place
Alabama Huntsville. UWA finished with a total time of 2:14:01.71 (55 points), while UAH ended the day with 2:13:54.50 (57 points). The two combined for the second-closest finish in conference history (West Georgia beat West Florida by one point in 1995). In third was
West Florida with a total time of 2:15:40.78 (82 points).
Valdosta State (2:16:48.68, 106 points) and
West Georgia (2:19:21.65, 154 points) rounded out the Top 5, followed by
Union (2:22:32.60, 155 points),
North Alabama (2:19.55.65, 162 points),
Shorter (2:19:26.55, 167 points) and
Christian Brothers (2:23:05.87, 211 points).

Silas Too received both
GSC Runner of the Year and
GSC Freshman of the Year laurels as he crossed the line first, posting a time of 24:35.45.
