GSC Announces 2013 Men's Tennis All-Conference Team

Birmingham, AL—The Gulf South Conference announced its 2013 Men’s Tennis All-Conference Team today.
Five schools were represented led by
West Florida’s three honorees.
Valdosta State added two players, while
Alabama Huntsville,
Delta State and
West Alabama completed the squad.
UWF’S SAVI REPEATS AS PLAYER OF THE YEAR
West Florida junior Bruno Savi was named
GSC Player of the Year for the second straight season. Savi helped lead the Argonauts to their second consecutive GSC Title last weekend and the No. 2 seed in the NCAA South Region Tournament. The junior became UWF’s third two-time Player of the Year winner, following Radovan Chrz (2001 and 2003) and Diego Zorzi (2006 and 2007). The Bogota, Columbia native is currently ranked No. 3 in the ITA Singles rankings and No. 4 in the Doubles Top 25.
VSU’S SCHEMM IS FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
Joachim Schemm became the third consecutive VSU standout to be tabbed
GSC Freshman of the Year. The Gottingen, Germany native played at the No. 2 singles spot for the Blazers, compiling a 10-9 record and he was also a member of the No. 3 doubles tandem.
UWF’S RACINE IS COACH OF THE YEAR
West Florida’s Derrick Racine was named
GSC Coach of the Year for the second year in row. The honor was Racine’s seventh of his career dating back to 1999. He guided the Argonauts to a successful defense of their GSC Title and a No. 2 seed in the NCAA South Region Tournament. UWF climbed to as high as No. 2 in the ITA national poll and enter NCAA action on an 18-match winning streak.
ALL-GSC TEAM
For the second consecutive season,
West Florida has provided a
four-time All-GSC selection after
senior Kevin Ducros follows former teammate Andrey Pozhidaev’s four-time accomplishment a year ago. Ducros is the 18
th four-time All-GSC member, earning honors in 2009, 2010 and 2012.
UWF’s Bruno Savi and
Valdosta State’s Konstantin Kutschenko are back from the 2012. Rounding out the All-GSC Team are first time members:

DSU’s Florion Mondoloni,
VSU’s Joachim Schemm,
UWA’s Nestor Vargas and
West Florida’s Tony Rajaobelina.
