Birmingham, AL—The Gulf South Conference announced the selection of its 2012 Women’s Golf All-Conference Team today.

GSC Champion
West Florida and Tournament runner-up West Georgia each posted two players on the All-GSC Team, while Christian Brothers added its first-ever honoree.

GSC INDIVIDUAL HONORS

West Florida’s Camila Sevillano
led the list of individual accolades, becoming the third player in history to earn the GSC Player of the Year and GSC Freshman of the Year awards in the same season. Sevillano follows Central Arkansas’ Nicole Forshner (2006) and UWF’s Bhavna Shetty (tied for Player of the Year in 2008) as the previous owners of both honors in the same year.

The Cali, Colombia native capped the season by winning Individual Medalist laurels at the GSC Tournament, leading the field with a 36-hole score of +16, 158. She competed in 10 tournaments in her first year in Pensacola, leading the team with a 79.3 scoring average.

Barry Harwell
celebrated his first season leading the UWG program by capturing the GSC Coach of the Year. Harwell guided the Wolves to a second-place effort at this year’s GSC Tournament with a squad that featured just one upperclassman. West Georgia earned its second runner-up finish in three seasons and also posted the second-place individual scorer: freshman Jerrah Baker.

ALL-GSC TEAM

The future of GSC Women’s Golf is bright as all five members of the 2012 All-Conference Team are freshman.

UWF’s Aimee Paterson joined Camila Sevillano on the team, while West Georgia advanced Jerrah Baker and Nicolette BoissonneauChristian Brothers earned its first-ever All-GSC Women’s Golf selection thanks to Lauren Harrett’s appointment.

Three of the five standouts were featured on the 2012 GSC All-Tournament Team last week, led by tournament winner, Sevillano. Baker finished just three shots behind Sevillano at the league event, firing a +19, 161 thanks to a Tournament best 76 in the final 18 holes. Paterson finished third (+23, 165) at the GSC Tournament, followed by Harrett’s sixth-place effort (+26, 168) and Boissonneau’s eighth-place performance (+33, 175).
