UWF Claims Women’s Soccer Gulf South Conference Title

Pensacola, FL – The University of West Florida women’s soccer team won the Gulf South Conference Championship beating the University of North Alabama 4-0 at Brosnaham Park on Sunday.
 
West Florida and North Alabama took to the pitch on Sunday afternoon in the second championship match of the day.
 
UWF was awarded the penalty kick with 18 minutes to go in the first half. Tori Fish would put her team up 1-0 by successfully converting the chance.
 
Sashana Campbell set up Chelsea Palmer for another score in the 31st minute giving UWF the 2-0 lead.
 
Monica Malavassi set up Sashana Campbell for another goal in the first half, this time in the 39th minute, putting UWF up, 3-0.
 
Nathalia Cerceau kicked off the scoring in the second half for West Florida as she punched one in at the 84th minute mark. That would be the only score of the second half as UWF would secure the 4-0 win.
 
For West Florida, this is its eighth GSC Championship. UWF heads into postseason play with a 19-1-0 overall record.
