Birmingham, AL—The Gulf South Conference announced the selection of its 2011 Women’s Golf All-Conference Team today.
Six teams earned at least one player, led by Harding (one First Team) and West Florida (one First Team) which posted three overall honorees. Arkansas Tech (one First Team) was the only other team with multiple players. Southern Arkansas and West Georgia each recorded one First Teamer, while Henderson State added one Second Team member.
GSC INDIVIDUAL HONORS
West Florida senior Bhavna Shetty put an exclamation point on her stellar four-year career, capturing her fourth consecutive GSC Player of the Year award. Shetty earns her second outright honor after sharing the designation in 2008 and 2010. The Mysore, India native recorded three Top 10 finishes this season and posted 10 rounds in the 70’s.
Rachel Harmon became the first-ever Henderson State player to be named GSC Freshman of the Year. Harmon shot a Low Round of 75 and recorded an 82.6 scoring average. The Franklin, AR native was one of the top freshman scorers at last week’s GSC Tournament, finishing in a tie for eighth-place.
The best season in Arkansas Tech women’s golf history continued to make headlines when Amy White was selected the GSC Coach of the Year. White collects her first-ever honor after leading the Golden Suns to their first-ever GSC Women’s Golf Tournament Championship a week ago.
