Alabama-Huntsville third baseman Eric Deese (SR, 6-2, 180, Tuscaloosa, AL) is the Gulf South Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending April 29.
Deese earns his first award of the season, second of his career, leading UAH to a 2-1 series victory over rival North Alabama. The senior went 7-for-13 at the plate for a .538 average, while lacing one double, blasting three homeruns and driving in nine RBI en route to a 1.308 slugging percentage. The Tuscaloosa, AL native belted two homeruns in the series opener, becoming the first Charger since 2010 to hit multiple homers in a game. Deese was 4-for-7 with runners in scoring position and 5-for-8 with two outs.
